DUMPING IN THE CANAL: We have become aware of someone dumping lawn and garden refuse into the canal. This is not only ecologically a bad idea it also is illegal. A large mass of this stuff has been observed floating in the water. If you see someone doing this, please make them aware that it is a bad idea and also illegal. If they will not comply, then at least let Steve Silver or any member of our Board of Directors know, and further action will be taken. As I am sure you know, much has been written lately about the deterioration of Hood Canal. So let’s all make an effort to be a part of the solution rather than of a part of the problem.
GOOD PROGRESS ON THE MARINA SEA-WALL -It sure makes for more room out in front of the Pavilion for picnic tables and such. And doesn’t obstruct the view like the old one did. Some work still to be finished up. Check it out below here!
THIS SATURDAY, March 27 - BRIDGEHAVEN CLEAN UP DAY!!! WRONG!!! It said:
“MEET AT THE MARINA PAVILION 10:00. If lots of us show up, it will be really easy - AND if it’s nice weather, which it’s supposed to be - it will be “a walk in the park” (so to speak, LOL).”
MANY THANKS TO THOSE THAT TURNED OUT FOR “CLEAN-UP DAY”!!! You went way beyond the call of duty to come out a FULL WEEK before it was really supposed to be! MY FAULT - But at least it proves to me that someone is reading what we write on here, LOL! If you go and look at the calendar, Clean up Day was not scheduled until NEXT WEEKEND! I have no excuse other than that I must have read the dates wrong on the last set of minutes - it’s a numbers thing with me! Please Steve or anyone if you see a discrepancy of dates, PLEASE, PLEASE let me know ASAP!!! THANKS! Your webmaster - the one with egg on her face!!!
So it’s been done for this year, but it would be appreciated if everyone would keep an eye out for litter in our community and pick it up whenever you see it. And if some of you still want to go out next Saturday, April 3, please feel free to do so - every little bit helps because every littter bit of trash messes up our beautiful community.
PEOPLE IN THE NEWS
Most probably don’t know that we, here in Bridgehaven, are honored to have some celebrities in our community! We have two girls who are just taking a break after winning Number One in State for “Select Soccer”. These athletic girls are the daughters of “Stubbs” & Eric who have a home in Edmonds and a “get away” place here in Bridgehaven.
Known on the team as “The Rock”, age 12, and “The Bean”, age 10, both girls had to try out to win a place in this league known as “Select Soccer” - which is a team of 12 year olds mostly, but when they saw how “The Bean” played with her big sis - well, let’s just say they are the dynamic duo on the field!
You can see some action photos of them on www.troutstreaming.com/sports/quietriot - look under soccer. The team is fortunate to have J. Andrew Towell, professional action photographer to record their amazing moves and their mom, “Stubbs”, the Midday Maverick on KMPS, to do the announcing for the team.
Bob and I have been amazed at the energy of this couple and their kids! Eric is now a
Lieut enan t in the Edm onds Fire Dep artm ent. When they are over here at their “get away place” one would hardly know they have time for all that they do. While “Stubbs” and the girls were doing yard work today, Eric was inside the house painting. When they are here they are always working - I keep asking her if they ever plan on just coming over to enjoy this so called “get away” place!

Even Kobe, the family Golden Retriever, knows what it is to work, as he a trained service animal. These dogs are put to work in a special reading program. They are trained to be a good listening ear and a comfort for children with reading issues. You can find out more about what Kobe does at: www.readingwithrover.org .
Besides working at the radio station, the whole family often get involved in “Stubbs’” gigs at KMPS booths and other volunteer events in the area. Celebrity status or not, we just count them as good friends and wonderful neighbors! Lest I forget, CONGRATULATIONS GIRLS - Number One - State Select!!! Impressive to say the least!
