From the beautiful blue water of this natural fiord, looking north to Mount Baker and the North Cascade Mountain range, then the Hood Canal Bridge that connects us to the Kitsap Peninsula, on down southeast toward Mount Rainier and then there is our community, Bridgehaven, with a backdrop of the majestic Olympic Mountains! Who could ask for anything more! The Bridgehaven community according to the postal service is Port Ludlow, but actually we are south of the official community of Port Ludlow, Washington. The natural serenity and year round moderate climate makes living in Bridgehaven ideal for people of all ages and all walks of life. Many enjoy boating, sailing, kayaking, or canoeing, while others are partial to fishing, crabbing, or hunting shellfish on any one of the many public beaches of Hood Canal.
The Bridgehaven Community Club Association maintains a private park/beach area with covered picnic pavilion, boat launch and private marina for the use of Bridgehaven Community Club members. Bridgehaven also has its own state regulated Class "A" water system providing a plentiful source of good clear water.
Port Townsend, the county seat of Jefferson County, about 40 minutes north of Bridgehaven, offers a wide range of services and shopping. Many of the locals however prefer to cross the bridge and take the 20-25 minute ride southeast to Poulsbo. Poulsbo, a town of now over 8 thousand people, offers a large Super Walmart and a HomeDepot, in an area called, College Place. This shopping and services area also offers a PetCo, OfficeMax, Big 5, a bank and several other new shops and small strip malls in this ever growing new complex just up the hill from the first Poulsbo exit when driving south on Hwy 3.
Further down toward “The Village” you will find Central Market and Albertson’s, RiteAid, several restaurants, and many other shops and services. There are a few other quaint small towns dotting the map around Bridgehaven on both sides of the bridge, but metropolitan Siverdale, approximately 35 minutes southeast of Bridgehaven, is the "real shoppers" town, with the large Kitsap Mall, Costco, Target, Ross, T.J. Maxx, Red Lobster, Olive Garden, Applebees, warehouse stores, more movie theaters and many more fine dining and fast food restaurants -- and traffic, lots of traffic!
Beautiful Bridgehaven offers a peaceful place to live and a great place to recreate with a good selection of shopping and services not too far away.
